Inacurate report of The Specials appearing at LMHR carnival

Friday, 28 March 2008

An article in the londonpaper, which said that The Specials would be playing at the carnival, and another in the Independent, which stated that Specials' mainman Jerry Dammers would be forming a band with Sham 69 singer Jimmy Pursey, are both untrue. These reports did not come from us, the confusion somehow arose because Jerry Dammers has agreed to deejay at the event. We apologise for any disappointment.

It should be pointed out that The Specials have not existed as a band for 25 years and have not reformed at this point in time.

We are, however, very close to announcing further major acts: check back here for the latest news on the lineup and more.

Rock Against Racism

Thursday, 20 March 2008

"Love Music Hate Racism Carnival 2008 - Rock Against Racism 30th Anniversary" promises to be LMHR's biggest event yet. It celebrates 30 years since the famous Rock Against Racism carnival, which also took place in the Victoria Park and was played by The Clash, Steel Pulse and other legends.

Our carnival will see all kinds of musicians uniting against racism and fascism - creating a diverse and vibrant mix of music. There will be a lively carnival procession through London beforehand.

We want to give everyone the chance to get involved with this exciting event and are asking for the following:
  • Regional Coordinators to get people from your area, college, university, etc to Carnival. This may mean organising transport or displaying publicity.
  • People to volunteer to help out on the day.
  • Help us fund the carnival - an event like this doesn’t come cheap! That's why we're appealing for donations or help, such as holding a LMHR fundraiser or a "pre-carnival party". See our website for ideas, or donate online using the panel on the left.
