Some helpful tips for the day itself:The venueThe arena will be a fenced off area in the park. It does not have a roof, so please dress for the predicted weather conditions. There are no cloackroom facilities on the site.The locationThe arena is situated in the eastern side of the park, near the athletics track. You can enter the park via entrances on Victoria Park Road, Grove Road and Old Ford Road.The timeThe arena will be open from 10am, come down early and stake out a spot. The music starts at 12pm and finishes at 6pm. Well it is a school night...The facilitiesThere will be food and drink available to buy on the site. There will be alcohol available to buy from the licenced bars. Credit and debit cards will not be accepted. There are no cash machines within the arena. There is disabled access and disabled viewing platforms.All this, and its free! Brilliant, right? Well its not quite an open playground where anything goes. We don't want to sound like you mum but.... we want everyone to have a fun and safe Carnival, so here are some tips for the day itself: - There will be LMHR stewards offering help and advice on the day - please listen to them and inform them of any difficulties.
- Glass (including bottles) and cans can not be brought to Carnival.
- Alcohol will not be allowed into the arena.
- Please don't start fires, bring barbeques, tables or chairs to Carnival.
- We'd of thought it goes without saying, but just in case, please don't bring any weapons, flares or fireworks to Carnival. They will be confiscated.
- Big flags on poles block the sight of those behind you, please leave them at home. If you want to be spotted easily, why not dye your hair pink...
- Professional camera's and recording equipment are also not allowed without press accreditation.
- Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
- Searches may be carried out and the promoters have the right to refuse entry.
- No dogs, other than guide dogs, will be allowed into the arena.
But that's enough of what you can't do. Here's what you can, and should, do:
- Dance
- Sing
- Eat
- Drink
- Be merry
You may also want to bear in mind the following advice from the police:
- Take care of your personal belongings keep your phone, purse and wallet out of sight in your pocket as much as possible.
- Try to avoid travelling alone especially at night and keep to well - lit main roads where possible. Plan your journey knowing exactly what the train times are.
- Stay alert be aware what's around you.
- It is worth letting someone know where you are going and the route you intend to take.
- If you are intending to drink alcohol be aware of the effects of alcohol always be in a group in case you get into difficulty.
- Dial 999 in case on an emergency.
- Those found unlawfully in possession of drugs will be prosecuted.
